VC KMU, Special Secretary for Health visits proposed sites of Karak Medical College

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – Aug 29, 2022): Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, Prof Dr Zia ul Haq and Special Secretary for Health Dr Syed Farooq Jameel, visited the sites proposed for the establishment of a medical faculty in Karak.

Apart from the KMU team, other relevant officials were also present on the occasion. The purpose of the visit, carried out on the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mehmood Khan, was to identify a suitable building to establish a medical college in Karak district.

The delegation visited the old building of Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak, and the building of the Polytechnic Institute, and made a detailed examination of the various facilities available there.

He then proceeded to Bannu Medical College, Bannu, where the Vice Chancellor distributed certificates to participants of the KMU Health Professions Training Programme.

The delegation also visited the proposed site of the KMU-Institute of Health Sciences in Bannu.

The team expressed satisfaction with the facilities available for licensing programs. The delegation also visited the KMU-Institute of Health Sciences, Kohat.

Prof Dr Zia said the Chief Minister is keen to establish medical colleges in Karak, Buner, Charsadda, Haripura and Mansehra as soon as possible.

He said the Chief Minister had given him the task of identifying a government building that could be used for the establishment of a medical school as a priority. To this end, he visited with the Special Secretary for Health the former building of Khushal Khan Khattak University of Karak and the Polytechnic Institute of Karak.

The feasibility report will soon be submitted to the chief minister, and work will be launched for setting up Karak Medical College in the proposed building, he said.

Karak DHQ Hospital would be attached to this proposed college as a teaching hospital, he added.
