Optus says it has brought 335 of its flood-affected sites back online in Queensland and New South Wales.
The state of play at midday today was that four sites in New South Wales were still down, but 97 had been recovered since February 28.
In Queensland, 22 sites (including 17 stand-alone) are still down, four generators have been deployed and 238 sites have been recovered since February 25.
“Although some sites continue to be a dangerous environment for optus technicians due to water levels, our field crews continue to work under the direction of emergency services to restore impacted Optus sites as quickly as possible,” the company said.
Optus noted that some of its NBN customers are still impacted by the NBN outage caused by the flooding, adding “We are working with NBN as they continue to bring their network back online.”
Affected customers can benefit from the additional 25 GB of data applied to eligible prepaid and postpaid mobile plans.
Although there is a hotline – 1800 507 581 – for weather-affected Optus customers, the volume of calls is such that the company is advising customers to visit its website if they can, or d ‘send a message to the business via the My Optis app.
