Closure of several COVID testing sites operated by Monroe County

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced Monday that several county-run COVID-19 testing sites will be closing starting Tuesday.

Instead, rapid home test kits will be available free to residents at participating Monroe County libraries.

The full list of participating libraries is available here.

Bello says libraries in Greece, Parma, Chile, East Rochester, Webster, Hamlin and Scottsville will not participate.

“With our number of COVID cases steadily declining over the past month and free vaccines and boosters more widely available, it is clear that we are in a new phase of this pandemic,” Bello said in a statement. “Our goal now is to make home testing more accessible by partnering with the library system.”

“Monroe County Public Libraries is pleased to support the Bello County Executive, municipalities and members of our community by distributing these important COVID rapid test kits to county residents,” said Patty Uttaro, Director of Libraries. Monroe County public authorities, in a press release. “With more than 3 million visits per year, Monroe County Libraries are natural partners for community distributions.
